FIIs turned heavy sellers on Monday, offloading ₹5,353 crore in Indian equities as the Nifty plunged 360 points to hit its lowest level since April 2. DIIs remained buyers, purchasing ₹5,189 crore during the session.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in Indian equities on Monday, offloading shares worth ₹5,353.22 crore on a provisional basis, according to exchange data.
FIIs bought equities worth ₹9,047.56 crore and sold shares worth ₹14,400.78 crore during the day.
Domestic institutional investors (DIIs), meanwhile, remained net buyers, purchasing equities worth ₹5,189.02 crore on a provisional basis. DIIs bought shares worth ₹15,918.32 crore and sold equities worth ₹10,729.30 crore.
FIIs were also net sellers in Indian equities on Friday, offloading shares worth ₹3,693.93 crore on a provisional basis, while DIIs remained net buyers with purchases of ₹2,838.17 crore.
Separately, Indian equity markets extended losses on Monday, with the Nifty plunging 360 points to 22,780, its lowest level since April 2. The Sensex dropped 1,124 points to 72,772.
The Nifty is now up 2% in the first half of FY27 and is set for its worst first half of a financial year in four years.
The Nifty Bank slipped 1,109 points to 54,472, while the midcap index fell 992 points to 59,914. All four frontline indices declined nearly 2%, with the Nifty Bank emerging as the biggest underperformer.
Market breadth remained firmly in favour of declines, with 47 of the 50 Nifty stocks closing in the red. Stocks fell as much as 3%.
Rising crude prices continued to weigh on the market, with seven Nifty stocks ending at their 52-week lows. All sectoral indices closed in the red, while the volatility index jumped 13%.
How was last week for fund flows?
For the week ended September 25, FIIs were net sellers of ₹11,490.03 crore in Indian equities. They were net sellers in four of the five trading sessions, with buying of ₹1,617.45 crore recorded on September 23.
DIIs, meanwhile, were net buyers of ₹16,398.15 crore during the week. They remained net buyers across all five trading sessions, with their highest daily net purchase of ₹4,301.18 crore recorded on September 24.
