Gemini AI is becoming an important part of Apple's AI ecosystem and the new iPad app is part of that reach for more users.

Both the iPhone and iPad users now have a full-fledged Gemini app

Gemini app came to iPhone users last year and now Google is offering the AI app for iPads now. The platform has allowed you to use the AI model in the web form till date but having a full-fledged app on the iPad will give it the ideal experience.

The Gemini AI interface does not have a lot going on and you basically see the Welcome note along with the option to choose the different version of Gemini AI models available from Google.

The new version of the Gemini App for iPad is available through the App Store and we also have a clear idea about what Google is offering with the first iteration of the AI model for the device: 

Gemini is already available on millions of smartphones, and you can even make it the default assistant on these devices. But in Apple’s world, Gemini operates like any other AI assistant out there, and needs your consent to do even the basic things.  

Apple does not let Gemini access all the apps which is hardly surprising but what features like Gemini Live bring to the table is an experience that iPhone users will gradually start to expect from Apple.

Siri is already delayed till 2026 and what Apple showed at the iPhone 16 launch event has to be the final goal that needs to be achieved sooner rather than later. To be fair, Apple says it is not looking to race others in the AI push, but the race is definitely on to make space for one AI agent on millions of smartphones. 

Gemini coming to iPad is a sign of that change and Google will make Gemini work through Apple AI like ChatGPT later this year, as confirmed by Sundar Pichai at a recent antitrust hearing in the US.

Going by his timeline, it is quite possible that Google and Apple form part of an exciting WWDC 2025 lineup where the official news about Gemini coming the Apple AI could be announced. iOS 19 version could see the first major Gemini integration which brings Live, Veo and other AI tools to the Apple ecosystem.
