Govt raises paddy MSP by ₹69 to ₹2,369 per quintal for 2025-26

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various kharif crops for the 2025-26 marketing season.

The MSP for common paddy has been raised by 3%, now set at ₹2,369 per quintal, while the Grade A variety will be available at ₹2,389 per quintal, reflecting a ₹69 increase from the previous year.

Among pulses, the MSP for tur (arhar) has been revised upward by ₹450 to ₹8,000 per quintal, while urad has seen a ₹400 increase to ₹7,800 per quintal. Moong MSP has also been adjusted, rising by ₹86 to ₹8,768 per quintal.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, emphasised that the government’s decision aims to provide farmers with fair and remunerative prices for their produce.

Notably, nigerseed has received the highest absolute increase in MSP, followed by ragi (highest 14% in percentage terms), cotton, and sesamum. The revised prices align with the commitment made in the Union Budget 2018-19 to ensure MSPs are set at 1.5 times the All-India weighted average cost of production.
