IT major HCL Technologies Ltd (HCLTech) on Monday announced a multi-year strategic partnership with OpenAI, the US-based artificial intelligence research and deployment company, to drive large-scale generative AI (GenAI) adoption across global enterprises.
The collaboration aims to support enterprise clients in scaling GenAI solutions for business transformation, the company said in a regulatory filing to Indian stock exchanges.
The partnership will see HCLTech integrating OpenAI’s models - including ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI APIs- across its internal operations and client-facing platforms, including its proprietary offerings such as AI Force, AI Foundry, AI Engineering, and various sector-specific AI accelerators.
“This collaboration underscores our commitment to empowering Global 2000 enterprises with transformative AI solutions,” said Vijay Guntur, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems at HCLTech. “It reaffirms our robust engineering heritage and aligns with OpenAI’s innovation-driven mission.”
The two companies will jointly offer solutions across the entire AI lifecycle, including AI readiness assessments, model integration, enterprise-scale deployment, governance, and change management. Internally, HCLTech will also roll out enterprise-grade generative AI tools to its over 223,000 employees across 60 countries, the company added.
Giancarlo “GC” Lionetti, Chief Commercial Officer at OpenAI, said HCLTech’s deep industry footprint and engineering capabilities position it well to support scalable, real-world GenAI applications. “They’re accelerating productivity and setting a new standard for how industries can transform using generative AI,” he said.
The announcement comes as global demand for AI-led transformation continues to surge, with enterprises seeking to modernise workflows, enhance customer experiences, and unlock new growth through automation and intelligent systems.
HCLTech reported $13.8 billion in consolidated revenue for the 12 months ending March 2025, serving clients across sectors including financial services, manufacturing, life sciences, telecom, and public services.
