Hezbollah leader killed in strike was wanted for 1983 Beirut bombings

An Israeli airstrike on Friday in Beirut killed a top Hezbollah commander and other senior figures in the Lebanese movement, vowing to press on with a new military campaign until it is able to secure the area around the Lebanese border. The Israeli military said that top Hezbollah leader Ibrahim Aqil had been killed with other senior members of an elite Hezbollah unit in the airstrike, escalating the conflict. Terrorist group Hamas condemned the killing, and called the strikes a 'crime and folly' and vowed that 'Israel will pay a price for it'.
