Highway Infrastructure Ltd said on Tuesday it has secured a ₹328.78 crore contract from the Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to operate and collect tolls at the Kaza Fee Plaza on the Chilakaluripet–Vijayawada stretch of Highway 16 in Andhra Pradesh.
The Letter of Acceptance (LoA), issued on Dec 9, covers toll operations across an 82.5-km segment between km 355 and km 437.5, one of the busiest stretches connecting northern Andhra Pradesh with key industrial and port clusters further south. The contract was awarded through a competitive e-tender process.
In a stock exchange filing, the company said the project involves the “operation and collection of user fee at Kaza Fee Plaza” and includes upkeep of adjacent toilet blocks, “including recouping the consumable items”, as part of the mandated maintenance responsibilities.
Highway Infrastructure said the order was awarded by a domestic entity and does not qualify as a related-party transaction. The promoter or promoter group has “no interest in the entity that awarded the order”, the filing added.
The contract period is one year, during which the company will manage tolling operations on a section that forms part of NH-16, a crucial link in India’s east-coast economic corridor and one of the primary freight routes for agricultural goods, construction materials, and port-bound cargo.
Highway Infrastructure, based in Indore, operates toll plazas and provides infrastructure management services across several states. The latest award expands its portfolio in southern India, where rising vehicular movement and logistics activity have led to increased tolling revenues across national highways.
