Donald Trump joked he'd like to be Pope when asked about the next pontiff, while noting Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York could be a strong choice, though he has no preference.

US President Donald Trump playfully talked about the upcoming selection of a new Pope.
When asked who he thought should lead the Vatican City, Trump quipped, "I'd like to be Pope. That would be my number one choice." His remark added a touch of humour to the conversation surrounding the conclave to elect the next pontiff.
While Trump stated that he has no preference for who should succeed Pope Francis, he mentioned Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, as someone who could be "very good."
"No, I don't know, I have no preference, guys. I might say we have a Cardinal that happens to be out of a place called New York who is very good. So we'll see what happens," Trump added.
Trump, who has been married three times, is obviously not going to be chosen to work as head of the Catholic Church.
The nearly-2,000-year-old organisation is looking for a new spiritual head following the passing of Pope Francis this month.
The New York cardinal, Timothy Dolan, is not considered to be in the running to replace Francis, reports claimed. There has never been an American pope.
WHO IS TIMOTHY DOLAN?
Cardinal Timothy Dolan is part of the Archdiocese of New York. He was appointed as the Archbishop of New York by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009, according to his bio. Cardinal Dolan also attended in the 2013 conclave that elected Pope Francis after Pope Benedict XVI resigned.
