West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said the BJP would lose the upcoming state assembly elections and announced she would embark on a nationwide yatra soon after the polls.
The Trinamool Congress chief also predicted that the BJP would be ousted from power at the Centre in 2029.
“If they hurt me, I will show what I can do. I will shake things up. I will move around India after the election," she said.
She further added, “Bangla has the guts that Bangla will capture the power in Delhi."
Banerjee accused the Election Commission of acting as the BJP’s commission and promised genuine voters of the state not to be afraid of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Addressing a rally in Bongaon, North 24 Parganas district, against the SIR, the CM claimed that 35 people died due to the EC’s drive to purify the electoral roll and said the entire process is being done in an “unplanned" way.
“Don’t be afraid, if you are a genuine voter. For so many days, you did not do SIR. Now they will make you write that you were Bangladeshi and that you want to be Indian — what will happen then? Don’t be afraid. When I am here, I will not allow them to exclude you. This land is not afraid of this BJP. As long as the TMC is here, we will not allow them to touch you," she said.
Banerjee blamed the BJP-led central government for illegal infiltration, saying agencies like the Border Security Force (BSF) are under the Centre and responsible for protecting the border.
“In border areas, the BSF threatens people. Tell me — if illegal infiltrators are here, who looks after the border? Who looks after the airport — the CISF? Who looks after passports? The Central Government. So how did we do it? In Bihar, they could not fight, they could not catch your game. We know your game — you will not be able to get Bangla," she said.
