‘INDIA bloc Should Prepare To Sit In Opposition…’: Amit Shah Claims To Form NDA Govt Again in 2029

Amit Shah also lambasted the opposition parties and said that the INDIA bloc wants to spread instability and they must learn the way of working in the opposition properly.

Union home minister and BJP leader Amit Shah on Sunday took a veiled jibe at the opposition parties for questioning the strength of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, and said that the INDIA bloc should prepare to sit in the opposition after the 2029 polls as well.

While speaking at the inauguration event of 24×7 Manimajra water supply project in Chandigarh, the union minister said that the NDA alliance will not only complete its term, but also form the government in 2029.

“I assure you that let the opposition do whatever it wants to do, in 2029 NDA will come, Modi ji will come. They (opposition) do not know that BJP has won more seats in this election than the number of seats Congress got in the past 3 elections. They do not know it. NDA’s only one member, the BJP, has more than the total number of seats which their whole alliance has,” he said.

Shah also lambasted the opposition parties and said that the INDIA bloc wants to spread instability and they must learn the way of working in the opposition properly.

“These people who want to spread instability, repeatedly say that this government is not going to last. I have come to assure them that not only will the government complete its term but the next government will be of NDA and be ready to sit in the opposition and learn the way of working in the opposition properly,” he added.

His remarks came after several opposition leaders at several occasions termed the recently formed NDA government as unstable and claimed that the government might not complete its term.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee earlier said that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was unstable. “This government (which assumed office on June 9) may not continue also. This is not a stable government,” she had said.

Earlier in June, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh claimed that the coalition government at the Centre will not be able to run beyond a year and the INDIA bloc will present itself as an alternative whenever there is an opportunity.

In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA secured majority by winning 292 seats with the BJP emerging as the single largest party with 240 seats. The alliance’s partners TDP and JD(U) won 16 and 12 seats, respectively.

Narendra Modi is serving his third straight term as prime minister, the first to do so since India’s first PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The INDIA bloc bagged 233 seats. Others have won 18 seats in the lower house of Parliament. The Congress secured 99 seats. Samajwadi Party got 37 seats while Trinamool Congress 29. DMK managed to win 22 seats.
