India on Saturday issued a fresh advisory for its nationals in Saudi Arabia, particularly Umrah pilgrims affected by ongoing flight cancellations, news agency Press Trust of India reported. Indian authorities are coordinating with Saudi officials to facilitate their early return.

The advisory was issued amid escalating regional tensions following a series of drone and missile attacks by Yemen's Houthis targeting civilian infrastructure.

The Consulate General of India in Jeddah said its round-the-clock control rooms in Jeddah and Makkah continued to assist affected Indians with the support of community associations and volunteers. Help includes food, essential medicines and other immediate requirements wherever needed and feasible.

According to PTI, the consulate is in regular contact with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address problems caused by flight disruptions, particularly those involving visa validity and delayed departures.

Umrah pilgrims facing difficulties with accommodation or other services during their extended stay have been advised to contact the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's Pilgrim Care Centre at 1966. They can register their concerns and obtain a case reference number.

Pilgrims have also been asked to remain in contact with their respective Umrah service providers for assistance.

The consulate said it was regularly communicating with Indian airlines about flight cancellations and passenger concerns, including difficulties in obtaining refunds.

To help arrange alternative travel, the mission has been connecting Indian Umrah tour operators with airlines that continue to operate flights to India. Such arrangements will depend on seat availability, applicable fares and other airline requirements.

Those affected by the disruptions have been advised to remain in constant contact with their airlines, travel agents or Umrah operators to handle cancellations, rebookings, refunds and alternative travel arrangements.

“The Consulate continues to coordinate with the concerned authorities, airlines and other stakeholders to facilitate the early return of affected Indian nationals,” the advisory said.

The Indian mission said its control rooms would continue providing immediate assistance while working with Saudi authorities, airlines and tour operators to help affected nationals return to India at the earliest.
