Anita Anand, the Indian-origin Transport Minister of Canada, has dropped out of the race to replace Justin Trudeau as the next Prime Minister.

Anand, who had emerged as a frontrunner to be Trudeau's successor, also said that she won't seek re-election as an MP for Oakville, Ontario.

"Now that the Prime Minister has made his decision to move on to the next chapter, I have determined the time is right for me to do the same," she said in a statement on Saturday.
