In a major escalation of tensions in West Asia, US and Israeli forces have reportedly launched multiple missile strikes on Iran's Kharg Island, according to local media reports. The strikes occurred ahead of the deadline previously indicated by US President Donald Trump. Kharg Island is considered Iran's most critical economic lifeline, accounting for approximately 90% of the country's crude oil exports.  The IDF has indicated that operations are proceeding according to plan to dismantle Iran's command-and-control structures and economic funding lines. Beyond Kharg Island, other potential targets including key bridges like the Persian Gulf Bridge and Lake Urmia Bridge remain at risk. These developments suggest a coordinated effort to dismantle Iran's strategic and logistical assets, potentially disrupting regional trade corridors and urban lifelines.

Vendors display saffron, dried herbs and traditional blends reminiscent of Tehran’s bazaars and even India’s old markets. Shopkeepers expressed concern over the ongoing hostilities, but said the people of Iran weren't to blame for its leadership's decisions. Some voiced hope for a future reconciliation. Despite political divides, the market reflects a shared cultural identity sustained through food, memory and migration.

Suits PM to have same CM and vice-versa: Sachin Pilot alleges BJP-CPM collusion

In a sharp political attack ahead of key electoral contests, Congress leader Sachin Pilot alleged that the BJP and the ruling Left Democratic Front share a tacit understanding that benefits both sides. Pilot claimed the arrangement suits both Narendra Modi and Pinarayi Vijayan. “It suits the PM to have the same CM. It suits the CM to have the same PM,” he said. Taking aim at the BJP’s position in the state, Pilot said the party has “zero MLAs” and is not in a position to form a government in Kerala. “They know that they can’t form the government here. The next best alternative is to stop the Congress and allow the LDF to have a third term,” he said. He also questioned the candidates fielded by the NDA, claiming several were unlikely to win and were instead aimed at dividing votes.
