Joe Biden was on vacation for 40% of his presidency, claim Republicans

US President Joe Biden has reportedly spent a significant portion of his presidency away from the White House, accounting for about 40 per cent of his presidency, according to RNC Research, a Republican platform.

Notably, the Republicans made a similar charge against Biden last year. In response, the White House defended the President’s time off, stating that he remains actively engaged in his presidential duties during vacations.

In its report, RNC Research claims that Biden took 532 vacation days in less than four years, accounting for about 40 per cent of his presidency.

The 81-year-old President's time off is equivalent to 48 years' worth of vacation for the average American worker, the report claims.

For comparison, a typical full-time worker in the United States receives around 10 to 14 days of paid vacation per year. Over a 40-year career, this amounts to roughly one year of vacation time.

Biden's time off in just over three years as president equates to what would take the average worker nearly half a century to accumulate, the report claims.

As President Biden’s political career nears its close, he has recently spent two weeks at Rehoboth Beach and his secluded home in Southern California, according to the New York Times.

Sharing a video of Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden spending their time on the beach, the RNC Research, on September 1 tweeted, “Biden spent today — his 16th straight day on vacation — lounging on the beach. He has spent a total of 532 days (40.3% of his presidency) on vacation. Who's running the country?”.

Since his inauguration in January 2021, Biden has frequently visited his homes in Delaware and taken extended breaks in various other locations. Last year, the RNC Research published a similar report against Biden, claiming that till August 23, 2023, he had spent 382 days or 40 per cent of his presidency out of office.

However, a report in The Washington Post, citing White House pool reports, stated that Biden, in the first 853 days of his presidency, had spent 256 days on vacation or at one of his homes in Delaware through May 22, 2023.

To put things in context, Trump also spent over 250 days in the first 853 days of his presidency, The Washington Post report stated.

Joe Biden, who was in the presidential race for re-election, called off his campaign and ended his bid in July following a disastrous debate with Donald Trump that raised doubts about the incumbent’s fitness for office. The Democratic Party later nominated Vice-President Kamala Harris to take on Republican candidate Donald Trump in the November election.

While ending his presidential bid, Biden announced that he would continue in office until January 2025 and has multiple plans to complete before the end of his term.
