Jupiter Wagons wins ₹264 crore orders as rail freight push gathers pace

Jupiter Wagons Ltd said on Thursday, June 25 that it has secured two orders worth a combined ₹264.32 crore from JSW (South) Rail Logistics Private Limited and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), strengthening its order book and presence across the freight logistics sector.

The wins come as both private companies and government agencies increasingly shift cargo movement towards rail networks, driven by lower transportation costs, dedicated freight corridors and India's broader push to improve logistics efficiency.

The company signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with JSW (South) Rail Logistics for the manufacture and supply of five BFNSM1 rakes along with BVCM wagons. The order is valued at ₹122.88 crore and is scheduled for execution within seven months from the signing of the LoI.

Jupiter Wagons will also supply two BFNV wagons to JSW under earlier requirements.

Separately, Central Warehousing Corporation, a Government of India enterprise, awarded Jupiter Wagons a contract worth ₹141.44 crore for the manufacture and supply of eight BLSS rakes comprising 32 BLSS-A wagons, 352 BLSS-B wagons and eight brake vans.

BLSS wagons are commonly used for container transportation and play a key role in supporting multimodal logistics networks that connect ports, warehouses and industrial centres.

The contract is expected to be completed within one year from the date of the Letter of Award.

Commenting on the development, Vivek Lohia, Managing Director, Jupiter Wagons Limited, said, "These order wins from JSW (South) Rail Logistics and Central Warehousing Corporation further strengthen our growth momentum and reflect the continued confidence of leading logistics and infrastructure organisations in Jupiter Wagons' manufacturing capabilities and execution excellence."

He added that as India continues to invest in rail-led logistics, multimodal
connectivity and freight infrastructure, they see sustained opportunities across both public and private sector customers. He stated that the demand for efficient, specialised and high-capacity rolling stock continues to grow.

The company added that the orders align with its strategic focus on strengthening India's rail freight capabilities through innovative wagon platforms tailored to evolving customer requirements.

The latest contracts also indicate continued demand from both private-sector logistics operators and public-sector agencies, providing visibility for manufacturers of freight rolling stock despite broader economic uncertainties.

According to the company, the two orders together reinforce demand for modern freight transportation solutions across industrial and logistics sectors.

For investors, the order wins offer additional revenue visibility and reinforce Jupiter Wagons' positioning as one of the key beneficiaries of India's ongoing investment in rail freight and logistics infrastructure.

Shares of Jupiter Wagons were trading 1.68% lower at ₹263.10 on the NSE at 3:23 pm on June 25.
