A 45-year-old Louisiana woman was arrested for having sex with a minor multiple times. She also used to send lewd photos and videos to at least five other teens. These minors were her daughter’s classmates. She is sentenced to 26 years in prison and her own daughter asked for harshest penalty for her.
As per a report by The NewYork Post, the accused, Leann Yammarino, pleaded no contest to having sex with a 14-year-old who went to her daughter’s school in Ascension.
Her daughter addressed the court on Tuesday, pleading for the maximum penalty for her mother for devastating their family’s life, the outlet reported.
The self-proclaimed “cheer mom," who appeared teary-eyed and red-faced in her mug shot, sobbed and bowed her head during the sentencing hearing.
Judge Keyojuan Gant-Turner agreed, sentencing the troubled mother to the maximum 10 years in prison for each count of carnal knowledge, plus three years for each count of indecent behaviour.
The sentences will run consecutively, totalling 26 years, meaning Yammarino will be over 70 before she is released. She will then have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
The mother, who was heavily involved with the school’s cheerleading squad, has been in custody since her arrest in July last year.
Ascension District Attorney Ricky Babin described her as a threat, stating, “her victims are minors."
Police were initially alerted when the 14-year-old Dutchtown High School student came forward in July 2024, alleging Yammarino had sex with him twice since January. Subsequently, five other students, aged 14 to 16, accused the mother of sending them explicit messages, including videos of herself.
