Made-In-India Sarvam's AI Chatbot Will Work On Nokia And HMD Feature Phones: Here’s How

Sarvam AI is joining hands with HMD to bring its AI chatbot to Nokia and HMD features phones available in the country.

Sarvam AI is eyeing more than just your smartphones. The made in India AI model could soon be powering feature phones, car screens and even laptops. The company has already signed up with HMD to bring its AI chatbot to Nokia and HMD feature phones which we should be seeing later this year in the market. 

The news was shared at the AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi this week, and Sarvam has been one of the biggest highlights of the event, especially after launching its Sarvam 30B and 105B AI models along with the Indus app for mobile users. 

Sarvam AI On Nokia Feature Phones: What To Expect 

HMD makes both Nokia and HMD branded phones in the country and it shared the news about this AI deal via a post on X.

The company has not shared the details of how the Sarvam AI-powered chatbot will work on the basic phones, but it is likely that we see a dedicated button to activate the AI and the basic 30B model from Sarvam will be handling the tasks on these devices. 

HMD also pointed out that the AI on these phones will support real-time conversations, help with problem solving and work in multiple local languages. Some of the Nokia and HMD feature phones already have UPI payment integration through the standard IVRS technology, and we expect the AI chatbot to use a similar setup to work on the phones. 

HMD has not given other details about this partnership but we expect future feature phones from the brand (and probably the current Nokia phones) to get Sarvam AI working as the AI chatbot of choice for the buyers. 

Sarvam has released the Indus app for smartphones but there is a long wait list which people have to join before getting access to the AI model and its features.  The Sarvam 30B and Sarvam 105B will be a core part of the sovereign AI ecosystem in India in the next few years and the AI company is doubling down on its efforts not just to perform in India but also compete with larger and more powerful AI models. 

The Indian government has sought locally built AI models and companies like Sarvam are showing their ability to make these LLMs at the global scale with less resources to deliver similar results.
