An elderly man in the US shot his 59-year-old wife to dead at their home before using the same gun to kill himself. In a Facebook post, the man had claimed that he murdered his spouse over an alleged affair.
The tragic murder-suicide was reported from North Carolina on January 18. The man has been identified as 63-year-old George Lesniak and his wife, Cathleen Lesniak.
“My wife admitted to cheating on me so I killed, I’m about to kill myself," George Lesniak, former vice president at New York-based Autel Automotive Intelligence USA, wrote in his Facebook post which has now been deleted.
George worked as an administrator for a group dedicated to technicians who performed ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibrations on vehicles, while Cathleen was a technical production manager at Advanced Auto Parts, according to her now-private Facebook page.
According to New York Post, the shooting took place at the couple’s five-bedroom, four-bathroom home in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, located 18 miles southwest of Raleigh.
Police stated that there was no threat to the public, but they were conducting a detailed investigation due to the “complex nature" of the incident. “This incident is deeply tragic, and we urge the community to keep the family in their thoughts during this challenging time," officials said.
The couple had been married for more than 34 years. Officials have not yet confirmed whether the deaths were a result of a murder-suicide.
