At least 16 people lost their lives as a massive storm ravages the US, leaving devastation in several states. In Missouri, an outbreak of tornadoes caused 10 deaths and injured several people, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

According to a news agency Associated Press, three were killed and 29 hurt in Independence County, Arkansas, authorities reported. Sixteen counties experienced damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure, the Arkansas Department of Public Safety confirmed.

Meanwhile, Texas officials reported that three individuals died in car crashes during a dust storm in Amarillo on Friday.

"It was unrecognizable as a home. Just a debris field," said Jim Akers, the coroner of Butler County, describing the scene when rescuers arrived. "The floor was upside down. We were walking on walls." Despite the damage, rescuers were able to save a woman from the wreckage.

This is a developing story.
