In a disturbing manifesto laced with hatred, gender confusion, and anti-Semitism, 23-year-old Robin Westman detailed what he planned to wear for “my shooting"—before storming Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis during a back-to-school Mass and killing two children.
“I don’t want to dress girly all the time but I guess sometimes I really like it. I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man… I really like my outfit," Westman wrote in a chilling post, part of a broader hate-filled message that was mostly written in Cyrillic and accompanied by twisted videos later removed from the internet.
Westman used a rifle, a shotgun and a pistol to fire dozens of rounds at the school church. He was later found dead in the parking lot from what officials believe was a self-inflicted gunshot.
A video on his now-deleted YouTube channel showed that the shooter had “kill Donald Trump" and “nuke India" written on his guns apart from the names of previous school shooters. At one point in the video, Westman showed a smaller firearm and said, “This one is for me. In case I need it."
US Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the authenticity of the video, saying the “deeply sick murderer scrawled" the words ‘For the Children’ and ‘Where is your God?’ and ‘Kill Donald Trump’ on the rifle magazine.
According to CNN, Westman had attended the same school where he carried out the crime. Yearbook records reveal that the shooter had graduated from the school in 2017.
ATTACKED SCHOOL WHERE MOM ONCE WORKED
Authorities also revealed that the shooter had a close family connection to the school, given that his mother was a former staff member, the New York Post reported.
Mary Grace Westman worked as a secretary at the Minneapolis Catholic school for five years before retiring in 2021, with a post from the church confirming her employment.
“She has provided such wonderful hospitality, friendship and compassion to all who gathered for the last five years at Annunciation. You will be missed! Congratulations on your retirement!" the church wrote.
Neighbours described the Westmans as a “normal, great family", with one adding a note of caution: “I guess you never know who somebody is."
PROBE SO FAR
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara told CNN that Westman was recently issued a permit to purchase firearms and the weapons used on Wednesday were also legally purchased.
The Minneapolis top cop also said four search warrants have been executed around the Minneapolis area, one being the church and three being residences “associated with the shooter".
A 13-year-old boy has been identified as one of the 17 people injured when Westman opened fire inside the school church. Endre Gunter was shot in the stomach when Westman, rained bullets through the church’s stained-glass windows. Gunter underwent surgery and is now recovering well, according to his mother.
US President Donald Trump has ordered the national flag to be flown at half-staff nationwide as a sign of mourning.
