During RJD's 'Jan Vishwas Yatra' in Bihar's Patna, party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said PM Modi's dislike for the 'parivarwaad' stems from the fact that "he doesn't have any family"

In an apparent counter-offensive at the opposition’s ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ jibe, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Arunachal Pradesh for the Viksit Bharat Viksit North East event, said that every family in the hill state is his family.

‘Parivarvadi’ leaders of the INDIA bloc escalated their attacks on Modi. They are asking, Modi ka parivar kaun hai? Those who are abusing me, listen carefully. Every family living in the hills of Arunachal Pradesh is saying, “Ye Modi ka parivar hai,” PM Modi said while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Sela tunnel in Arunachal.

The prime minister also accused the Congress of playing with the security of the country by “neglecting” the border villages in Arunachal Pradesh as there are only two Lok Sabha seats in the state.

On the inauguration of the Sela tunnel that will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang, PM Modi claimed that the Congress government could have built it earlier but it did not.

Highlighting the BJP government’s development work in the region in the last five years, the prime minister said that Congress would have taken at least 20 years to do the same work in the northeast.

“In 2019, I had the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of Sela Tunnel, and see, it has been launched today! In 2019, I laid the foundation stone of Donyi Polo Airport, and today, this airport provides excellent services. Aren’t these guarantees? These are the ‘pakki guarantees,’ ANI quoted PM Modi as saying.

INDIA Bloc’s ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ Remark Stirs Row

During RJD’s ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ in Bihar’s Patna, party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav launched a personal attack on PM Modi and said his dislike for the ‘parivarwaad’ stems from the fact that “he doesn’t have any family.”

The rhetoric led to a movement by the BJP where all senior leaders and party workers added ‘Modi ka Parivar’ in their social media bio.

The prime minister in a strong response, tore into Lalu Prasad calling him “the biggest offenders (sabse bade gunahgar)” of Bihar. He accused them of bringing “jungle raj” during their decade-and-a-half-long rule in the state.

How Personal Barbs at PM Modi Backfired at Opposition

Over the decade, the opposition hurled several personal barbs at Prime Minister Modi, which usually worked in the BJP’s favour and blew up in the opposition’s face.

When India entered the general election year in 2019, the alleged Rafale scandal snowballed into a massive political controversy. Taking off from PM Modi’s statement where he called himself the nation’s ‘chowkidar’’ or guardian, Rahul Gandhi called the Prime Minister a ‘chor’.

The phrase ‘Chowkidar Hi Chor Hai’ went on to become the Congress’s campaign slogan for general elections. PM turned the narrative on its head, adding ‘Chowkidar’ to his social media handles. Soon, all BJP leaders did the same and led to the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ movement.

Similarly, during the 2014 general elections, when BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi conducted his ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ events as part of the campaign when the Congress in an attempt to ridicule PM Modi said ” he was welcome to sell tea at a Congress conclave which was underway.”

The BJP made it one of the talking points at its rallies, with its leaders selling tea and visiting tea stalls.
