A British man was arrested for ramming a car into a packed crowd celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title victory on Monday, leaving 47 people hospitalised. Police are treating this as an isolated incident and have so far ruled out terrorism.
Authorities said the 53-year-old man who ploughed his minivan into the crowd is believed to be the only one involved in the incident. Emergency vehicles and an air ambulance rushed to the scene to attend to the injured.
Viral videos from the incident captured the terrifying moment when the car speeded down a crowded street, ploughing into tens of thousands of Liverpool fans on Monday.
Several videos showed the car being vandalised by angry fans as the driver tried to back the vehicle up, after which, at one point, he drove into the crowd. Several people were hit by the car as fans screamed and attempted to escape as chaos erupted.
