In a terrifying incident, a woman used her own body as a shield to protect her minor son from a vicious Rottweiler dog attack, and suffered injuries in Russia’s Yekaterinburg.

The harrowing incident, which unfolded on a snowy street in Yekaterinburg, was caught on camera and was shared by RT Television Network.

As per the video shared on social media platforms, the woman can be seen protecting her son by lying over him on the snowy path, while the as domesticated Rottweiler, identifiable by a metal band around its neck, loomed nearby.

Despite sustaining severe injuries, she remained focused on keeping her child safe from the dog, lying over the kid while calling for help. According to the news outlet, the mother sustained multiple injuries and a serious fracture, while the child seemed physically unharmed, the outlet reported.

Emergency responders rushed the woman to the hospital, and the Sverdlovsk Region Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the attack.

The terrifying scene was recorded by a man from his car who also captured the blood-stained snow as the struggle unfolded.

The netizens shared mix reactions in the comments section of the now viral video. Some defended the dog, some expressed their concern about safety and ownership responsibilities of the pets.

“Don’t blame the dog…. blame the owner. My Rottweiler never bit or harmed anyone. Neither did my Rottweiler/Great Dane," wrote one user. “I am a little confused since “enraged" dogs would be aggressive against someone down on the ground like this. He doesn’t seem aggressive against the mom, or the child’s leg which is clearly vulnerable," commented another.
