A wealthy couple and their daughter were found dead in a South Carolina mansion. Authorities are investigating the mysterious deaths, assuring no public threat. Other family members were away at school.

On Friday, authorities discovered the bodies of a wealthy couple and their daughter in a mansion in Greer, a town located in northeast Greenville, South Carolina. Police responded to a call from a neighbour, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

The county coroner's office told WYFF that the deceased man was Richard Samarel, a 54-year-old who worked as an equities manager at Bloomberg LP. Though, he left the company in 2007. His 45-year-old wife, Lina Saramel, was an immigrant from Columbia and worked for the US Department of Veteran Affairs.

The couple married in 2012, as per Lina Samarel’s Facebook posts. Their 9-year-old daughter, Samantha Samarel, was also found dead.

The time of death for the three was around 10:20 a.m. to 11:29 a.m.

According to Zillow, the family's lavish mansion was worth almost $800,000 and had six bedrooms.

Family death remains mysterious

Authorities have yet to release details about the deaths of Richard Samarel and his family. However, the sheriff's office has reassured residents that there appears to be no 'threat to the public.'"

Authorities informed that other residents at the house were at school during the time of the deaths. Lina Samarel's social media posts show that the couple had another daughter and a young son.

The case is under investigation and additional information will be released at an "appropriate time."
