A White House social media post showing the deportation of immigrants gained the fury of the netizens who accused President Donald Trump’s administration of stripping deportees of their dignity.

The video, posted on the official White House handle on X, showed the detainees being prepared for deportation and the music of the UK pop group Bananarama’s ‘Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye’ playing in the background.

“Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye," White House captioned the video post on X.

Netizens React To Post

The post did not go down well with the netizens, who went on to accuse the Trump administration of “dehumanising people".

“It would be great if you guys stopped with the dehumanizing posts! It’s disgusting," a user wrote.

“i want them gone more than most but this kind of a gross display. do what needs to be done. no need for these comical displays. makes you the villain and has no strategic benefit," another one wrote.

“This is what we are going to be singing when Trump is impeached again," a user said.

“Disgusting post. Shameful," another user said.

“I don’t like illegal immigration but it’s not okay to dehumanize people like this, especially in the divisive climate we live in right now, it’s actually pretty disgusting to post this, disgusting and unprofessional," one user wrote.

White House Did It Again

This isn’t the first time the White House has shared a video with pop music in the background. Last month, a similar deportation-themed video used Semisonic’s 1998 hit ‘Closing Time’ — sparking backlash. The band, once nominated for a Grammy for the song, said the White House used it without permission and completely missed the song’s real sense.

The White House said that in March, U.S. Border Patrol caught only 7,181 illegal immigrants at the southern border — a big drop compared to the same month under former President Joe Biden. That’s 95% less than in 2024 (137,473), 96% less than in 2023 (163,672), and 97% less than in 2022 (211,181).
