An Israeli media outlet has claimed that Hassan Nasrallah, the elusive chief of the Iran-backed Hezbollah, was suffocated to death after toxic fumes leaked into his secret bunker following the massive airstrike on the militant group's headquarters in Beirut on September 27.

In its report, Israel's Channel 12 said Nasrallah's bunker caved-in as a result of the airstrike, causing the 64-year-old to "die in agony".

Breathing inside the bunker became impossible as it was filled with toxic fumes and heavy smoke as a result of the strike-triggered explosions, the report added.
