Hours after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Monday claimed responsibility for missile strikes targeting the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the headquarters of the Israeli air force commander, Netanyahu made a public appearance in Beit Shemesh, a site of a separate Iranian missile strike that killed nine people.

In a statement released by Fars news agency, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said, “The office of the criminal prime minister of the Zionist regime and the headquarters of the regime’s air force commander were targeted."

However, Netanyahu, appearing visibly determined, addressed reporters at the site of the Beit Shemesh strike and reassured the public that the US-Israeli campaign was focused on eliminating existential threats from Iran.

“Iran’s terror regime fires at civilians, and we fire at the terror regime in order to defend civilians. That is a tremendous difference," Netanyahu said, offering condolences to the families of the victims who had died  in the attack.

At the same outing, Netanyahu told reporters that he had spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the ongoing situation in the West Asia region. The Israeli leader also expressed his gratitude to Modi for “standing with Israel, standing with the Jews" in their fight against Iran.

“I spoke to our great friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I spoke to him at great length yesterday. I thank him for standing with Israel, standing with the Jews and for the enormous friendship of the people of India. They are much admired and love," Netanyahu told reporters.

The Israeli leader refrained from discussing the specifics of their conversation but stressed the importance of international cooperation amid the ongoing tensions in the region.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Modi also made public remarks, confirming that he had spoken with Netanyahu about the current situation in West Asia. He expressed India’s concerns over the latest developments and emphasised the need to protect civilians in the region.
