Netflix has, as per a report by IANS, deleted all of Urvashi Rautela’s scenes from the Telugu-language action drama Daaku Maharaaj ahead of its streaming release. The decision came just before the film’s scheduled debut on the platform, leaving fans of the actress disappointed. The movie, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, is set to premiere on Netflix on February 21, but Urvashi’s absence from promotional material has already sparked controversy online.

The announcement poster for Daaku Maharaaj on Netflix raised questions among viewers, as it prominently featured actors like Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, and Shraddha Srinath, but excluded Urvashi Rautela. Given her significant role in the theatrical version, fans quickly took to social media to express their confusion and discontent. Some even humorously speculated about the reasons behind her removal, while others criticized the streaming platform for the omission.
Netflix Attempts Damage Control After Backlash
Following the backlash, Netflix attempted to address the situation by releasing a series of individual character posters. Interestingly, Urvashi Rautela’s image was featured twice, seemingly to make up for the earlier exclusion. However, this move did little to calm fans, who continued questioning why her scenes were removed from the film entirely.
'Daaku Maharaaj' and Its Star-Studded Cast
Directed by Bobby Kolli, Daaku Maharaaj boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Rishi, Chandini Chowdary, Pradeep Rawat, Sachin Khedekar, Shine Tom Chacko, Viswant Duddumpudi, Aadukalam Naren, and Ravi Kishan. The film was released in theaters on January 12, 2025, coinciding with the Sankranti festival, and grossed an impressive Rs 105 crore at the box office.
