At the India Today Conclave 2026, European diplomats stressed that their countries are not participating in the escalating US–Israel–Iran war in the Middle East, even as the conflict’s fallout is being felt across Europe through rising energy prices and economic pressure.
They warned that the widening war could further disrupt global oil supplies and divert international attention from the Russia–Ukraine conflict, which has now entered its fifth year. Despite the economic and security implications, the diplomats said European nations are not parties to the Gulf conflict and are instead pushing for diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
