Soldier killed in encounter in J&K's Udhampur, multiple terrorists trapped

An encounter between security forces and terrorists is ongoing in the hilly forest area of Dudhu, Basangar Heights, in Udhampur. A joint, intel-driven operation by the army and police, which began late last night, has resulted in three to four suspected terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammad being trapped. In the ensuing exchange of fire, one soldier was critically injured and has since succumbed to his injuries. A colleague stated, "he has, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries. He's been killed in action." This operation highlights a shift in militancy towards forested terrains, creating new challenges for security forces. The heavily armed terrorists, trained in jungle warfare, are using the topography to their advantage, but forces have mobilized additional troops to prevent their escape.
