An early-morning fire on Easter Sunday claimed the lives of three men and injured four others in Queens, New York City, as authorities continue to investigate the cause.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at 8725 Chevy Chase Street in Jamaica Estates shortly before 1:40 am, responding to a three-alarm blaze.

According to the police, three men—ages 45, 52, and 67, were pronounced dead at the scene. Four more victims were taken to area hospitals, including three to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and one to Queens Hospital Center, where they are being treated.

FDNY Commissioner Robert S Tucker called the incident “a tragic Easter morning” and noted that one of the survivors remains in critical condition.

“Our Firefighters responded quickly and worked tirelessly to put out the flames. Dealing with loss of life is incredibly hard for our members. Our hearts go out to all of the victims, especially during this Holy Week,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Fire marshals are currently investigating the cause of the fire. The names of the victims and injured have not yet been released.
