Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (local time) held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, the first such call since India conducted Operation Sindoor strikes against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK.
The 35-minute phone call took place after a planned meeting between PM Modi and Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit was cancelled, as the US president flew back early due to the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.
Trump last spoke to PM Modi over the phone call after the Pahalgam terror attack in which he expressed his condolences and reaffirmed US support against terrorism.

What PM Modi, Trump Discussed Over 35-Minute Phone Call
The two leaders discussed a range of topics including India’s Operation Sindoor, the latest Israel-Iran conflict and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
• During the call, Prime Minister Modi gave President Trump a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor.
• PM Modi told President Trump that after the April 22 terror attack, India had made its resolve clear to the world by taking decisive action against terrorism.
• PM Modi emphasised that during the night of May 6–7, India targeted only terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
• The Prime Minister said India’s actions were measured, precise, and non-escalatory. He further reiterated that India had made it clear that any gunfire from Pakistan would be met with stronger retaliation from India.
• On the night of May 9, US Vice President Vance called PM Modi, warning that Pakistan might launch a major attack on India. PM Modi responded firmly, stating that if that were to happen, India would respond with even greater force. During the night of May 9–10, India gave a strong and effective military response, causing heavy damage to Pakistan’s military assets, and rendering some of its air bases inoperable.
• India’s decisive retaliation forced Pakistan to request a halt to military operations.
• PM Modi clarified to President Trump that at no point during this entire episode was there any discussion about an India-US trade deal, or the US mediation between India and Pakistan.
• PM Modi firmly stated that India has never accepted, does not accept, and will never accept any form of mediation. The ceasefire was coordinated directly between Indian and Pakistani militaries through existing communication channels, and it was initiated at Pakistan’s request.
• PM Modi noted that there is complete political consensus within India on this matter.
• President Trump acknowledged PM Modi’s detailed account and reaffirmed US support for India’s fight against terrorism.
• PM Modi also stated that India now views terrorism not as a proxy war, but as an act of war and that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing.
• President Trump asked PM Modi if he could make a stop in the US on his way back from Canada. Due to prior commitments, PM Modi expressed his inability to do so. The two leaders agreed to try and meet in the near future.
• Both leaders also discussed the ongoing Israel–Iran conflict and expressed the need for direct dialogue to achieve peace in the Russia–Ukraine conflict, agreeing to continue working toward this goal.
• Both leaders shared their perspectives and reaffirmed support for the QUAD’s vital role in the Indo-Pacific region.
• PM Modi extended an invitation to President Trump to visit India for the next QUAD meeting. President Trump accepted the invitation and expressed eagerness to visit India.
