A series of developments were reported on Saturday from Pakistan, Canada, Israel, Sri Lanka, the UK and the Russia-Ukraine war, with incidents ranging from violence and legal action to diplomatic and political moves.

The updates included the killing of a Hindu trader in Pakistan's Balochistan province, a stabbing inside a gurdwara in Canada's Edmonton, a fresh court battle over jailed former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan's hospital transfer, a prayer meeting in Israel for a murdered Indian national, and renewed attacks by Russia and Ukraine that left 10 people dead.

In Pakistan, a Hindu trader was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Noshki town of Balochistan province, according to a media report. In Canada, two men, including a priest, were injured after a 27-year-old man stabbed them with a screwdriver inside a gurdwara in Edmonton. The suspect was taken into custody, and police are investigating whether the attack was hate-motivated, authorities said.

In another development from Pakistan, Imran Khan's sister filed a petition in the Supreme Court, accusing the government and senior officials of violating the court's order to shift the jailed former prime minister to a private hospital for medical examination and treatment.

The Pakistan government, however, blamed Khan's party for his transfer to a state-run hospital instead of the private facility ordered by the Supreme Court for his medical check-up.

In Israel, members of the Gorkha community held a candlelight prayer in Tel Aviv on Friday for an Indian national who was killed in an attack allegedly by his employer's relative in Jerusalem last month. They also called for justice for him and support for his family.

In Sri Lanka, the United Nations welcomed the country's decision to simplify immigration procedures to speed up the voluntary return of refugees from India who had left Sri Lanka without valid documents during the decades-long civil war.

In the UK, Prime Minister Andy Burnham marked his first month in office by pledging to donate 15 per cent of his salary to charities working to tackle homelessness, as part of a wider promise to end rough sleeping. Separately, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's visit to the UK included a tour of the University of Oxford to explore the creation of a new education hub in Telangana, along with partnership talks with officials from the city of Liverpool.

In the Russia-Ukraine war, Russian drone and missile strikes killed at least seven people in Ukraine on Saturday, officials said. In Russia, a Ukrainian drone attack on the Krasnodar region killed three people. The attacks came a day after a deadly drone strike on a shopping mall.

Overall, the day saw a mix of security incidents, court action and political developments across several countries, with Pakistan, Canada, Israel, Sri Lanka, the UK and the Russia-Ukraine conflict all featuring in the latest reports.
