Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday warned India that it will have to pay for the Operation Sindoor strikes on his country.
Sharif claimed that the missile strikes left 26 civilians, including children, dead. “India will have to pay for today’s strikes…26 civilians killed, including kids. We will exact revenge for every drop of Pakistani blood," Sharif said during an address to the nation.
“The nation wants to pay a tribute to them (civilians) and the families of these martyrs, and also the people who have been injured. We are praying for them to recover well, my elders, my brothers, and my sisters," he added.
‘TERRORISM HAS AFFECTED PAKISTAN MOST’
Sharif said terrorism has affected Pakistan the most and the citizens of the country should be united to fight the enemy. He called India’s move to strike terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) “speculation that their mission is about eradicating terrorism".
“They think they can steer us away from our path. But Pakistan stands united. Our respect, our security, our army, our nation, we are in solidarity. The 240 million people of Pakistan are not afraid of the outcome. They are courageous, and they stand with the army. They will face the enemy and fight them bravely," he said.
While addressing a session of the Parliament, he said the Pakistan Army was ready for an Indian attack. He added that Pakistan had offered a transparent international investigation into the Pahalgam attack, claiming that India responded with “aggression" instead of cooperation.
The Prime Minister earlier presided over the Security Council (NSC) meeting, which was attended by cabinet ministers, chief ministers, all services chiefs and senior officers to discuss the situation.
The NSC meeting described the strikes as India’s “unprovoked" and “unlawful act of war" and said the “armed forces of Pakistan have duly been authorised to undertake corresponding actions in this regard." He later chaired a cabinet meeting.
Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation for the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 that killed 26 people. Citing “cross-border linkages" to the horrific attack, India had promised severe punishment to those involved in the strike.
