Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari was rushed to a private hospital in Karachi late Monday night following a deterioration in his health, according to reports.

Sources within the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) report that President Zardari is undergoing treatment, while doctors perform necessary medical tests to evaluate his health condition.

Security measures around the hospital have been tightened, with law enforcement officials deployed at the site to ensure the safety of the president, reported Pakistani news outlets.

Unauthorised access to the hospital premised has been restricted, it added.

A day before being hospitalised, President Zardari took part in Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Zardari House in Nawabshah.

He was accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Provincial Minister Ali Hassan, and Zia Lanjar, along with a large number of attendees.

Notably, the president has faced health concerns multiple times in recent years.

In 2024, he sustained a foot fracture while disembarking from a plane at Dubai Airport during a private visit to the UAE.

He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors applied a plaster and advised four weeks of rest, leading to the postponement of an official visit to China.

As of now, there has been no official statement regarding his current health condition.
