At least five people were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express train in Mastung district of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, derailing five coaches, according to Pakistan Railway officials.

On Sunday, the Jaffar Express was struck by a blast near the Spezand Railway Station, derailing five coaches, the Express Tribune reported. All five passengers sustained minor injuries, and rescue teams, including railways staff, were immediately dispatched to the site.

Jaffar Express was the target of an insurgent attack by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) earlier this year, that left 25 people dead and 50 others wounded. BLA fighters, especially members of the Majid Brigade, Fateh Squad, and Special Tactical Operations Squad, bombed the railway track and engaged Pakistani troops while capturing the Peshawar-bound train and holding hostages.
