A small aircraft crashed on Monday afternoon while approaching Kalispell City Airport in Montana, according to a report by NBC Montana. The incident prompted an immediate emergency response after a distress call was received at 2:08 pm, confirmed Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino.

Initial footage from the scene showed dramatic plumes of smoke and bursts of fire erupting from the crash site. The plane caught fire upon impact, with the flames quickly spreading across the tarmac and onto a nearby grassy area. However, local police later confirmed that the blaze was successfully contained by emergency responders.

Kalispell Fire Department Chief Jay Hagen stated that four individuals were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash, including the pilot and three passengers. Fortunately, all four sustained only minor injuries and received on-site medical treatment following their rescue.

Preliminary information suggests that the aircraft may have collided with another plane while on the taxiway. Reports also indicate that the aircraft may have encountered mechanical or operational issues during its approach. Emergency crews and local firefighters arrived swiftly to manage the situation.

Representative Ryan Zinke confirmed that there has been no reported injuries. “My staff is on site at the plane crash at the Kalispell City Airport. From what we understand, no one was injured, praise God. We will be assisting local authorities and the airport in any way we can as they handle this unfortunate accident," he said.

Details regarding the types of aircraft involved remain unavailable as authorities continue their investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will assume control of the inquiry.

As a safety precaution, Kalispell City Airport has been temporarily closed while emergency personnel secure the site and assess any remaining risks.
