At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried on a sleek, spectacles-like AI device.
Not glasses, the wearable or Sarvam Kaze is an indigenous artificial intelligence (AI)-powered device developed by a homegrown startup.
Developed by Bengaluru-based Sarvam AI and unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, it is positioned as India’s homegrown alternative to global wearables like the Meta Ray-Ban.
What makes Sarvam Kaze unique?
The glasses are designed to listen, understand, and respond to user queries while capturing what the wearer sees in real-time.Unlike many competitors, it runs on Sarvam’s in-house AI stack, specifically optimized for Indian languages and regional contexts. It utilises the Sarvam Edge AI model, allowing it to process information locally on the device for faster responses, enhanced privacy, and offline functionality. It features a discreet “spectacles-like" frame with embedded cameras and microphones built into the arms for hands-free capture and interaction.Through the Sarvam Platform, developers can build custom experiences and specialized applications tailored for the glasses.Supports real-time interaction, allowing users to receive instant audio feedback or summaries based on their surroundings. When will it be available?
In the pictures shared by Sarvam AI co-founder Pratyush Kumar, the Prime Minister is seen testing the real-time capabilities of the device while visiting the exhibition. According to the company, Sarvam Kaze is likely to be available in the market in May.
It is expected to be available to the public in May 2026.
‘Made in India’ AI product
From design to technical development, the entire product has been made in India. The company is presenting itself as a completely indigenous AI product. Apart from this, developers will also have the facility to create custom applications on the Sarvam platform. That is, they can develop separate AI-based experiences for specific needs.
What exactly is Sarvam AI creating?
Sarvam AI is one of the teams developing ‘Foundational AI Models’ tailored to Indian needs. They focus on building Large Language Models (LLMs) and Speech Models for Indian languages. These models will be useful for voice interfaces, document processing, and citizen services.
The company has also recently introduced:
Sarvam Akshar – Digitization of documents
Sarvam Studio – Platform for multilingual content creation
Saaras V3 – Advanced Speech Recognition Model
Why it matters
The development is considered important in the context of the ‘IndiaAI Mission’. The mission was launched by the central government in March 2024 with a provision of Rs 10,372 crore.
The summit in Delhi is bringing together policymakers, startups, researchers and global technology leaders to discuss responsible and innovative AI development. The event signals that India is no longer just a country using AI, but is also emerging as a country building its own AI products and models.
