PM Narendra Modi in Japan Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Tokyo on Friday for his two-day visit to Japan. He is set to attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit and will also hold a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba.
Discussions between the two leaders may focus on exploring cooperation in emerging sectors like semiconductors, startups, clean energy, supply chain, among others.
The visit of the Prime Minister comes amid Donald Trump’s 50% tariffs against India, forcing New Delhi to explore other export destinations for products impacted by the US’ levies.
On the second day of PM Modi’s visit, both leaders are likely to travel to Sendai city on a high-speed train to pay a visit to a semiconductor facility.
PM Modi will then make an onward journey to China’s Tianjin to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit on August 31 and September 1.
