Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a roadshow in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi and offered prayers at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Set to contest from this seat for the third time in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the prime minister was received by an enthusiastic public who showered flower petals on him.

After being received at Babatpur’s Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport in Varanasi by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, senior BJP leaders and office-bearers, PM Modi began his 28 km-long roadshow.

Later, the prime minister visited Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple along with CM Yogi Adityanath. There, priests led by Srikant Mishra performed puja amid chants of mantras. Visiting the temple a day after ‘Mahashivratri’, PM Modi performed ‘Rudraabhishek’, ‘Jalaabhishek’ and ‘Dugdhaabhishek’ as the premises got filled with sounds of temple bells and conch shells.

Taking to microblogging site X, the prime minister said “The mind always gets wonderful satisfaction by worshiping in the grand and divine Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple of Varanasi. Today, I prayed to Baba Vishwanath for the happiness, good fortune and health of my family members across the country. Everywhere Shiva!”

This was followed by vibrant programmes in Siliguri,” he said, adding that “Everywhere, the people’s appreciation of our Government’s work is tremendous.”
