Hours after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was not going to fight the Punjab Assembly elections (due February 2027, 117 seats) in alliance with the SAD. This was followed by a statement by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) state chief, Kewal Singh Dhillon: The BJP will fight the 2027 Assembly elections on its own.
