A day after terrorists killed 26 tourists in cold blood at Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Bangladesh condemned the attack and reaffirmed its stand against terrorism.

“Excellency: Please accept my deepest condolences over the losses of life resulting from the terrorist attack that took place in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. We strongly condemn this heinous act. Let me reaffirm Bangladesh’s resolute stand against terrorism," said a post on his official handle on X.

Other neighbouring countries also condemned the attack, including Nepal as well as the foreign offices of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In Kathmandu, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli extended deepest condolences to the victims.
“Nepal stands firmly with India and strongly condemns any and all acts of terrorism," he wrote on X.
Oli said close coordination has been established with different agencies to verify reports of a Nepali national among the victims, and expressed his commitment to provide all necessary assistance from the government.

On Tuesday afternoon (April 22), a group of terrorists gunned down male tourists milling around eateries, taking pony rides or just picnicking with their families at the Baisaran valley’s lush green meadows, often touted as ‘Mini Switzerland’ for its serene beauty.
The terrorists targeted mostly tourists from different parts of the country. The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to officials, three men suspected to be involved in the gruesome attack were identified as Pakistanis – Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah and Abu Talha.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government and the former prime minister’s exile to India, Bangladesh has pivoted towards China and Pakistan. The neighbouring country’s ties with India also took a hit after Yunus commented on the northeast and invited China to expand in the region.
In fact, Yunus recently called for stronger ties with Pakistan to boost mutual cooperation for trade and business potential. This was during his meeting with the country’s foreign secretary Amna Baloch, who was the first Pakistani foreign secretary to visit Bangladesh in 15 years.
