Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Users Complain About Paint Peeling Issue: Here's What The Company Said

Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 6 is facing issues with its durability as claimed by some users and the company has a strange response for it.

Samsung Electronics Co. recently unveiled its latest foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which has generated significant buzz due to its advanced features and redesigned aesthetics. However, the excitement surrounding the new device has been overshadowed by concerns over its durability.

In recent days, several users have voiced their issues on Reddit, revealing problems with the phone's resilience and casting a shadow over the initial enthusiasm.Reddit users have reported issues with their Galaxy Z Fold 6 devices, specifically noting that paint is peeling off in certain areas. They’ve shared images showing the rear panel, particularly around the power button and the top left corner, where the paint appears to be flaking away.

Samsung has since acknowledged the problem and provided an explanation for the paint deterioration.According to the company, the issue may stem from the use of certain third-party charging accessories with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung's official support page explains, “When you are holding a phone that is being charged with a high-speed third-party charger that is not properly grounded, the leakage current can affect the anodisation (the process that gives a metal surface a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant finish), which may slightly delaminate the paint.”

The company further added that usage of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) massagers while using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 can also cause the paint to come off. The company suggests users place the phone away from their body while using these EMS products.

Samsung, however, adds on the page that if a third-party charger comes from a reputable company, is of high quality, and adheres to the Qi standard, then it should be safe to use with the Galaxy device. However, there are counterfeit or low-quality chargers on the market that could potentially damage the device as they do not meet the safety standards, possibly causing a leak in the electrical current that can harm the metal surface of the phone.

The company, on the other hand, recommended users to use the authentic Samsung charger designed specifically for Samsung devices to ensure the longevity and appearance of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has launched in India priced at Rs 1,64,999 for the base model this year. Notably, Samsung ships the Galaxy Z Fold 6 without a charger. The 25W adaptor is currently listed at Rs 1,699 on the Samsung India website, while the USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable is priced at Rs 599.
