Saudi Bus Accident News Highlights: A major tragedy struck Indian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia after a bus carrying 46 people, including more than 40 Indians, met with a fatal accident. Early reports indicate that only one passenger managed to survive, making it one of the most devastating incidents involving pilgrims from India this year.

Officials in Telangana said they are trying to gather full details, particularly about the group that had travelled from Hyderabad. The state government is in touch with the Indian Embassy and Saudi authorities to verify identities and coordinate further action.

The accident, which occurred around 1.30 am IST, reportedly caused the bus to catch fire while most passengers were asleep. Footage from the scene showed the vehicle engulfed in massive flames.

According to reports many of the victims were from Hyderabad, including 20 women and 11 children. Rescue operations continued through the night, with locals rushing to assist those critically injured.

Further, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah has set up a 24×7 control room following the tragedy. A team of consulate staff and Indian community volunteers is actively present at hospitals and accident sites to assist the victims and their families.

18 Members Of One Hyderabad Family Among 42 Indian Pilgrims Killed In Saudi Accident

Eighteen members of a single Hyderabad-based family, including nine children, were among the 42 Indian pilgrims who died in the bus accident near Medina. The group was returning after performing Umrah and was scheduled to fly back on Saturday.

Speaking to NDTV, Mohammed Asif said his sister-in-law, brother-in-law, their children and grandchildren had travelled eight days earlier.

“The Umrah was done, and they were returning to Medina. Around 1.30 am, the accident happened and the bus caught fire. They were supposed to return on Saturday,” he said.

A senior police official said, “According to preliminary information, 46 people were travelling in the bus at the time of the incident, and heartbreakingly, only one person survived.”

He added that the state is trying to gather all necessary details, “We are coordinating with the concerned authorities and are in the process of gathering complete details, especially regarding the pilgrims who had travelled from Hyderabad,” he said.
