Russia Earthquake Videos: A massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Russia on Wednesday, causing chaos and panic in the residents. Horrific visuals surfaced on social media.

As an 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday morning, visuals surfaced showing horrific scenes from the buildings that survived the tremors.

The epicentre of the earthquake was at a depth of 74 km and was located 133 km southeast of Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said. Russia said that the earthquake was the strongest recorded in the region since 1952.
The scary videos showed the buildings shaking without a pause for seconds. People were heard screaming in fear. There were also reports of damage at various places; however, no reports of injuries or fatalities have surfaced so far.
Other visuals surfaced, showing chaos inside a house in Kamchatka.
Photos and videos have surfaced showing the first waves hitting the Russian Pacific coast in the Kamchatka region. The sea level shot up, and water reached buildings in towns near the shore.

This comes as the powerful earthquake that struck the Kamchatka Peninsula generated a tsunami of up to 4 metres. A tsunami with a height of 3 to 4 metres was recorded in parts of Kamchatka, Sergei Lebedev, Reuters reported.
Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov said that the earthquake was “serious" and strongest in decades, adding that no one was hurt in early reports.
In Severo-Kurilsk, a small town south of the peninsula, officials ordered an evacuation due to the tsunami threat, said Sakhalin Governor Valery Limarenko on Telegram.
The US authorities have issued a tsunami advisory for parts of Alaska. In Japan, the weather agency raised its tsunami warning, saying waves as high as three meters (about 10 feet) could hit.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, these waves were expected along the country’s Pacific coast between 10:00 am and 11:30 am local time.
