US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday was heckled and yelled at by protestors as he laid out plans for the post-war management of Gaza, stating that the outgoing Biden administration would hand over the roadmap to President-elect Donald Trump’s team to pick up if a ceasefire deal is reached.
However, his remarks were repeatedly interrupted by protesters, who blamed the Biden administration for being complicit in crimes committed by Israel in the war. The protesters also accused him of supporting genocide by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza.
“You will forever be known as bloody Blinken, secretary of genocide," one of the protesters shouted interrupting the US Secretary of State during his address. A video of the same is going viral on social media.
In the video, it can be seen that Blinken remained calm as the protester attacked him with the allegation. Following this, Blinken responded saying, “I respect your views. Please allow me to share mine."

Meanwhile, it is important to note that Blinken had earlier denied Israel’s actions amount to genocide and said he has pushed Israel to do more to protect civilians and to facilitate humanitarian aid into Gaza.
On October 7, 2023, Israel launched its assault after Hamas-led fighters stormed across its borders, killing over 1,200 people. According to reports, Israel’s aerial and ground campaign has killed more than 46,000 Palestinians. The assault has so far displaced nearly all of Gaza’s 2.3 million population and drawn the concern of the world’s main hunger monitor.
Blinken Defends Old US Policies
Concluding his farewell remarks on the Middle East, the US Secretary of State called for “another path" in the region away from war and violence.
“For many months, we’ve been working intensely with our partners to develop a detailed post-conflict plan that would allow Israel to fully withdraw from Gaza, prevent Hamas from filling back in, and provide for Gaza’s governance, security and reconstruction," Blinken said.
Trump and his incoming team have not said whether they would implement the plan.
Hamas Accepts Draft Agreement For Gaza Ceasefire
Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, on Tuesday, accepted a draft agreement for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of dozens of hostages amid the ongoing talks.
Meanwhile, the United States and Qatar, the mediator between the two parties, said the negotiations were at the “closest point" yet to sealing a deal.
