Nifty Bank declined 347 points to 59,610 and the Midcap index dropped 109 points to 58,432. Despite the fall, market breadth remained positive, with the NSE advance–decline ratio at 3:2.

Metals led the decline, with the metal index snapping a three-day rally; stocks like Hindustan Copper and Hind Zinc fell up to 12%. Hindalco, Tata Steel, Coal India, ONGC and ICICI Bank were among the top Nifty losers. South Indian Bank tumbled over 15% after the CEO chose not to seek reappointment, while Swiggy slid over 5% on a wider Q3 loss and a CLSA downgrade.

On the upside, Nestle climbed 3% after Q3 results beat estimates, while Indoco Remedies rose 2% following USFDA approval. In the midcap space, Vodafone Idea surged over 11%, emerging as the top gainer.

For the week, markets still ended in the green. The Sensex and Nifty gained over 1% each, while Nifty Bank and the Midcap index rose more than 2%. Defence, capital markets, realty and metal stocks outperformed, with gains of up to 9%. BEL, ONGC, Axis Bank, Adani Ports and Adani Enterprises led Nifty gains for the week, while Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki and Kotak Mahindra Bank were among the laggards.
