Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Nifty 50 bulls have some positives to look forward to as they head into the penultimate trading session of this holiday-shortened week. Domestically, retail inflation fell to the lowest in eight years. Whether the market takes any heart from this macro data remains to be seen.
Globally, Wall Street rallied; the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended at record levels after their own CPI print, which boosted the case for a Fed rate cut in September. After a strong start to the week on Monday, the Nifty gave up 50% of that upmove on Tuesday.
The bigger concern is the fact that the index closed below its 100-Day Moving Average (DMA) figure of 24,514. That becomes the first level for the index to cross on the upside. Tuesday's high of 24,702 is now over 200 points away and that remains the key on the upside before the index can retest its 20-DMA.
Earnings are down to their last legs, with stocks like ONGC, JSPL, Apollo Hospitals, Cochin Shipyard, RCF, among other names, reacting to their results. BPCL, Jubilant Foodworks, IRCTC, Hindustan Copper, ABFRL, United Spirits, and Deepak Nitrite, among other broader market names, will be reporting results today.
