Sensex Today | Stock Market Live Updates: The Nifty bulls would be a disappointed bunch going into today's mid-week session as they yet again could not defend higher levels. Having tested 23,500 levels on the Nifty weekly expiry, the index cooled off soon after, only to end lower despite the macros turning in favour of the market.

Crude oil prices have now slipped below the mark of $100, they did so during the trading session itself on Tuesday, which did spur a market recovery, but that recovery was soon sold into. 23,500 continues to remain the important level to watch on the upside.

The index continues to find support at last Friday's low of 23,286 and the 23,300 zone on the downside, which will be keenly watched as well.

An area of concern though, will be the Nifty Bank, as it yet again finished near the day's low on Tuesday, but somehow managed to defend the 56,200 mark at close. The 56,000 - 56,500-56,700 range remains for the banking index. Watch for shares like Bharat Forge, Allied Blenders, IRB Infra, among others.
