Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Nifty 50 index begins the second week of September with hope. A hope of a potential thaw between the currently frosty ties with the US over the 50% tariffs imposed on Indian exports.

After US President Donald Trump said that there is "nothing to worry about" over the US relationship with India and that he will always remain friends with Prime Minister Modi, the statement was reciprocated almost soon after from the Indian side as well.

That puts the spotlight on the scope of tariffs on India, especially after remarks made by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Friday that India will have to say "sorry" to Trump over their actions. The Nifty failed to move beyond its resistance zone yet again on Friday after unconfirmed reports over potential tariffs on the sector dragged IT stocks lower, and despite clarifications, they failed to recover.

Apart from IT, also watch for FMCG names as they too witnessed profit booking on the final day of the week. Vedanta will be in the news for its potential acquisition of JP Associates. Friday's low of 24,621 and high of 24,832 will be key to watch for the Nifty as it made a lower high on Friday.
