Pakistan has reportedly lost an AWACS (Airborne warning and control system) aircraft during the recent military clash with India. According to a retired Pakistani Air Marshal, the “prized” surveillance aircraft was lost in India’s BrahMos missile strikes on Pakistan Bholari air base. BrahMos is an Indo-Russian supersonic cruise missile that can be fired from Land, Air, and Sea.India is believed to have employed the BrahMos missile from Su-30 MKI fighters during the recent skirmishes.The Bholari air base sustained damage consistent with a direct hit as confirmed by Indian defence officials as well as satellite images. Apart from the AWACS aircraft, which are fitted with the Erieye radar system, Bholari is home to squadrons of the JF-17 Thunder as well as F-16 Fighting Falcon.
